The George Nelson Cigar Bubble Wall Sconce by Modernica is a sconce which casts a down-light and is exquisitely crafted with its beauty and ethereal qualities recognized by the Museum of Modern Art in New York, where it has been placed as a part of the museums permanent collection.
The George Nelson Cigar Bubble Wall Sconce is designed using steel wire to form the outline of a vertical oval or cigar, which is then draped with a covering of spun acrylic of semi-transparent quality to impart a subtle lighting effect. This is supported by a 2 thick solid walnut wall-mount which extends into a 14 long steel arm of brushed nickel finish. The arm can be swung on its hinges to adjust the direction of light.
The George Nelson Cigar Bubble Wall Sconce uses an A19 bulb of up to 150 watts capacity and can run on universal voltage making it equally effective anywhere across the globe. The unit can be switched on and off by an adjustable 12 feet plug-in cord suspended from its bottom and held in place with a counterweight. The cord can also be used to adjust the height of the light.
Modernica has reinvented this period piece and is making it using the same materials which were used in its original production run in 1952, to maintain the authenticity of the initial George Nelson Cigar Bubble Wall Sconce.
The light fixture is 31.8 high and 24.5 wide.
