The Hinkley Lighting 1599BS Low Voltage Well Landscape Brass has a brass finish enclosure with a grille of the same finish to protect the bulb lens from debris. With a height of 3.75 and a width of 4.625, the 1599BS Well Light powers a bi-pin bulb of 50 watts using low voltage electricity. When using low voltage electric power, the light fixture has to be connected to a low voltage transformer to convert the normal domestic line voltage from 120 volts to 12 volts. The buzzing sound of this transformer can be eliminated, or at least, minimized by the use of a dimmer. Since well lights are mostly placed in-ground, they should have strong resistance to damage from water logging or seepage. The resistance of light fixtures to water is represented by their IP rating, which is a 2 digit rating protocol with the first digit indicating resistance to solid dust particles on a scale of 0 to 6 and the second digit indicating resistance to water on a scale of 0 to 8.
