The Hinkley Lighting 1559BK Low Voltage Well Landscape Verde is a 6” high well light with a 5.5” lens emitting 35 watts of power from a screw base bulb activated by 12 volts low voltage electric current. The beauty of well lights lies in the fact that while the light fixture is invisible its effect is there for all to see. The 1559BK Well Light is mostly positioned outdoors inside the ground, which means it is susceptible to the seepage of water and its associated impurities. For this reason, the sand around the 1559BK Well Light is usually pea gravel or similar permeable sand to allow easy draining away of the water. Low voltage lights used for landscape lighting are accompanied by low voltage transformers to convert the normal line voltage of 120 volts to 12 volts. Since these transformers make a buzzing sound during operation, they are accompanied by dimmers to minimize the sound effect.
